Rules Are Rules!

January 11, 2006 – 4:14 pm

The BoB Awards last year turned into a popularity contest more than a blog winning on its merits.  We wanted to eliminate that this year and make the popularity of a blog be important but no the deciding factor.  We have devised a formula after many hours of time at the chalkboard and mathematical algorithmic…okay maybe it was a drunken stupor but we have decided to do the following.

Each blog gets a maximum of 50 points.

  • 20 points goes to the blog with the most popular vote, 18 for second most popular, 16 for third, etc.
  • Each blog can be awarded a maximum of 10 points for presentation. (This is not meant to give points for design, but merely how the blogs is set up and ease of use and readability.)
  • Each blog can be awarded a maximum of 10 points for readability (grammar, spelling, font/text size)
  • Each blog can be awarded a maximum of 10 points for content (interesting, thought-provoking, quality)

If there’s a tie, the judges will be voting for their favorite of the two.

  9. Sounds good to me. Now I must go and learn how to use the spell checker. Did you know that “blog” is not a real word?

  10. Hey aren’t we still a couple of categories shy of being finished with announcing finalists? I count 20 nomination categories and only 18 finalists. Where’s Best Overall? And why can’t I figure out what else is missing?

And while you are at it why don’t you answer this question too: What is the meaning of life and why are children germ magnets?

  11. oh, posh. I’m going to bed. Great choices there with Raehan, Lucinda, Grace. Why didn’t I get Ms. Crochet? I mean, I don’t. but still, it was my only hope…

  12. sleepingmomma- they are not germ magnets. They are germ dispensers. Like Glade Air fresheners that put out little bursts of sickening sweet jasmine fragrance, only with germs.

  13. Merit? Now you’ve made this contest interesting.

    I hope I don’t come in last.

  14. In answer to the categories question (and yes, I am sad) the last two are best overall and adoption/fertility I think…

One of my germ magnets/dispensers gave me something nasty. Bleurgh.
